24 May Getting Things Done: DaytonCorps May 24, 2018 By whall AmeriCorps, AmeriCorps Member Stories, Impact Stories AmeriCorps, Dayton Corps , Neighborhood Corps , Opportunity Corps 0 The AmeriCorps members of the DaytonCorps serve in their community in one of three areas: Education, Opportunity and Neighborhood. These members have dedicated 300 to 900 hours of service to make a difference and lead by example. The Education Corps members have been instrumental in creating a Rock Your Homework program where students of all ages receive help with their educational goals. The Neighborhood Corps members have gone door to door to engage citizens, organized neighborhood events, and increased volunteerism in the Dayton community. The Opportunity Corps members help clients achieve independent housing, create resumes, apply for jobs, and practice mock job interviews. Many members serve while juggling other commitments including school and class schedules, part-time jobs, caring for family members, and more. All the members joined because of their passion to help others! Almost 200 students have received help so far this year and recruited 47 volunteers to help with events for youth success!
