2006 Make A Difference Day Ohio
...Another Successful Year!
Make A Difference Day Ohio is the largest single day of volunteering - a day to lend a helping hand! First Lady of Ohio Hope Taft, Jim Tressel, Head Football Coach, The Ohio State University, the Ohio Community Service Council, and a statewide Steering Committee have led the efforts to provide information, promote, and recognize outstanding MDDO volunteers throughout the state.
For
the seventh consecutive year, Ohio led the nation in the number of volunteer
service projects planned for Make A Difference Day Ohio (MDDO)– Saturday,
October 28. A total of 330 projects were actually registered on the national
Web site (272 were registered last year!). A final count won’t be available for
a few weeks. Stay tuned for further recaps. Way to go OHIO!
A Message from Ohio’s First Lady Hope Taft
“This is a year filled with many changes and, while I intend to remain involved in Make A Difference Day Ohio, it may be in a less prominent role. The enormous success of MDDO has been due to the giving spirit of citizens across Ohio. Thankfully the legacy of service in this great state will continue far into the future. We have just begun to do the work of instilling an ethic of service in students and we are already seeing the results as students and seniors serve together. I am proud of our tradition as individuals who make our communities and our state stronger by investing in ourselves and others.”
